Tell us about your products and how you came about developing them?
Nilotiqa is a natural hair care product line that is specially formulated for dry, damaged natural afro hair with a tendency to be brittle and prone to breakage. Our product line consists of a deep replenishing co-washing conditioner, deep moisturizing butter, detangling cream and nourishing scalp and hair oil. Our natural products are formulated with high quality nourishing ingredients such as shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil and avocado oil that leave the hair feeling softer, deeply moisturized and much more manageable. Our products keep away from artificial sourcing of ingredients and do not contain petroleum, lanolin, parabens, phthalates, or artificial colors.

It is in growing my own natural hair for the past 16 years that I was inspired to create a natural hair care product line and a skin oil range that would truly work. After going to several salons and an endless search of locally produced products that would help with maintaining natural hair, it was clear that there was a huge gap in the market for professionally formulated products for natural hair. I struggled for a long time, like many other women, with extremely dry hair.

The frustration of unmanageable hair and a lack of knowledge led to an intense research of the structure of natural ingredients such as Shea butter, marula oil and avocado oil. After several years of research, formulations and product testing, Nilotiqa and Nyla Naturals were launched with great feedback. They are proudly made with organic, natural and naturally formed ingredients to deeply moisturize and nourish hair and skin.

Do you have natural hair and what is your favorite thing about your hair?

I have Dreadlocks that I have been growing for the past 16 years. They are a spiritual part of me and essentially the motivation behind Nilotiqa Hair Care… So I love them deeply.

You want Mom’s with kids with natural to know…?
Your little one’s hair can be kept easily manageable with Nilotiqa Hair Care. There is no longer a need for you to use chemicals in your children’s hair, like how our parents may have managed our hair. There are now beautiful natural ways to maintain natural and teach your children that their hair is perfect the way it is.
We’ve been using the Nilotiqa range for a couple of months and here’s what we think of the products.

Deep Moisture Hair Butter

I LOVE this butter! I love the creamy consistency and this product definitely does what it promises. My hair loves this stuff and I use it for our twists which gave me a great definition the following morning. I love using it on dry hair as if I use it on wet hair, my hair is still damp the following morning. I love the smell also and have added this product to my regimen.

Detangling Cream

This is great on dry hair to revive the hair when you are wanting to manipulate the hair in between wash days. I use this on both my girls if they have their hair out and also use it on their wash and goes. Love the smell and consistency is great. This would also work well as the Cream in the LOC method. Would definitely recommend this product for Mom’s as there is no couchies come combing time.

Replenishing Conditioner

So this has become our staple conditioner! It is so rich and creamy. I love how it makes our hair soft and detangling so easy especially for K’s tight coily hair. I usually add some oils to my conditioner for more slip but for this conditioner I don’t even bother because there is no need. For the times when my hair needs some TLC I do a mid week co wash and my hair is basically in pampering heaven.  My old downside to this conditioner is the size, I really wish it came in a bigger size because amongst the three of us, it doesn’t last very long.

Nourishing Hair & Scalp Oil
I love the spray bottle this oil comes in, it makes application so easy. I have started mixing some of our oils in spray bottles cause its so much easier to dispense. When I initially bought this oil I didn’t realise it had coconut oil and when I got it and saw the ingredients,I was a little scared to use  it cause coconut oil doesn’t agree with my hair but luckily no bad results from using it and it makes a great hot oil treatment. I love that it is a small bottle packed with a lot of oils and some shea butter so makes it good value for money.

  • Hey Nits, Thanks for the review. I gave been thinking of getting this range for a while, this was just the push I needed as I’m running low.

I need to try the conditioner, I’m in need of a moisturing conditioner. I have turned to purity in my desperation. The Deep moisture hair butter is tempting, is it oily?

Is the detangler worth it though? I do not struggle with detangling. Was thinking of getting 2 conditioners instead since you say they are small, what do you think?

I’m running low on oils but when you mentioned “spray bottle” I was done for. Spray means less mess.

Thanks so much for supporting local products. I’m a lazy shopper.

    • Hey! thanks for stopping by! The butter isn’t oily, its the right consistency for thirsty hair and has a good hold if left to dry which does take a while. The detangling cream is definitely worth it! I love that stuff on the kids, it makes work a little easier in between wash days. Definitely get 2 if you and Lulu will be using the conditioner together. It doesn’t last long.
